The Ultimate Guide To CBD

The Basics Of CBD

CBD stands for cannabidiol. It is a naturally occurring compound, derived from the hemp plant, also known as Cannabis sativa L. CBD is made using the leaves of the hemp plant and sometimes the stalk. There are three different types of natural CBD; CBD Isolate, Full-Spectrum CBD and Broad Spectrum CBD, with CBD Isolate being the purest form of natural CBD. Some companies also market synthetic CBD though this may not be clear from looking at the packaging.

Quick Facts About CBD -

  • In the UK, cannabis is a controlled drug, whereas CBD is legal to buy and is not a controlled substance. It is also legal to take CBD supplements.
  • The cannabis plant itself contains a range of cannabinoids; the compounds found in cannabis. Some of these are psychoactive and others, like CBD, are not.
  • In The World Health Organisation’s June 2018 Critical Review, they stated that to date, there is no evidence of pure CBD ever resulting in abuse or dependence of any sort.
  • Each of us has an endocannabinoid system (ECS) within our bodies so CBD isn’t foreign to us.

About CBD Levels - (Last Modified 12/08/2021)

There isn’t a set recommended amount of CBD that should be taken; however if you have never tried CBD, it’s best to start with a small number of drops per day and then gradually increase the amount of drops over time. Just be sure not to take more than 70 milligrams (mg) of CBD per day.

As a guideline, 7 drops of Vitabiotics Brains CBD taken twice a day could be a good place to start, working your way up to perhaps 28 drops a day (1ml).

CBD does affect everyone differently and it also depends on how the product is taken. Always see the directions for further guidance and do not exceed the recommended intake.

Do take note though that CBD is not suitable for those under the age of 18 as well as women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

It’s also best to consult with your GP or pharmacist before taking CBD if you are under medical supervision, have epilepsy, suffer from food allergies, or are allergic to any of the ingredients.
